In the spring of 2021, a dispute over a seemingly trivial item escalated into a fatal encounter for 69-year-old Hubert Moore, a resident of Glendale, Arizona. On the evening of March 19th, Glendale patrol officers were dispatched to an apartment complex near 59th Avenue and Bethany Home Road following a 911 call reporting a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered Moore suffering from several gunshot wounds.
The officers immediately administered first aid using their issued trauma kits, a swift action that was later credited with extending his life for a time.
Moore was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. For a month, he fought for his life, and during this time, he was able to communicate with detectives. In a crucial statement, Moore identified his assailant as 38-year-old Dion Trent Walton of Phoenix. He recounted to the investigators that Walton had come to his apartment armed with a gun, confronting him about a battery charger before shooting him multiple times. Despite the initial life-saving efforts, Hubert Moore succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased on April 26, 2021.
The investigation led by the Glendale Police Department culminated on May 3, 2021, when detectives located Dion Trent Walton in Phoenix. At the time of his arrest, Walton was found to be in possession of a firearm. During questioning, he admitted to the shooting. Walton was subsequently arrested and booked on one count of 2nd-degree murder and one count of weapons misconduct by a prohibited possessor, bringing a somber resolution to the violent end of Hubert Moore's life.
