In a tragic turn of events stemming from a domestic dispute, a Phoenix man lost his life in a parking lot confrontation. Forty-year-old Tyrone Thompson was fatally shot on a Saturday afternoon in August 2021. The incident unfolded outside a retail store in the vicinity of Buckeye Road and 10th Street, where Thompson had arranged to meet his wife.
According to Phoenix police, the meeting was intended to address an 'infidelity issue.'
The encounter escalated, and Thompson's wife was accompanied by a friend, later identified as 23-year-old Morion Collins. During the heated argument between the couple, Thompson's wife allegedly produced a handgun and fired a shot at their vehicle.
Authorities believe she then handed the firearm to Collins. As Thompson moved angrily towards their car, Collins is alleged to have fired the shot that struck him. Emergency services transported Thompson to a nearby hospital, but he ultimately succumbed to his gunshot wound.
Following an investigation, which included witness statements and cell phone data placing him at the scene, police arrested Morion Collins. He was taken into custody and faced a charge of second-degree murder in connection with the death of Tyrone Thompson.
