On October 6, 2021, 19-year-old Oscar Ortega was kidnapped and murdered in a disturbing sequence of events in North Phoenix, Arizona. The incident began when Ortega left his girlfriend's house around 2:00 a.m. He was then taken at gunpoint by 18-year-old Jerssen Perez, who was the ex-boyfriend of Ortega's girlfriend. Perez forced Ortega into his vehicle, as captured on security footage near Seventh Avenue and Union Hills Drive.
