In what appears to be a tragic outcome of a love triangle, 29-year-old Enrique Javier Perales was shot and killed in far West Bexar County. The male victim was pronounced dead at the scene following a verbal disturbance at a home.
Investigators believe that both Perales and his alleged killer, Mason Ray Rodriguez, were romantically involved with the same woman. Authorities from the Bexar County Sheriff's Office report that Rodriguez fired a 9 mm weapon at Perales at least a dozen times.
Following the shooting, Rodriguez and several other persons of interest fled the scene in a vehicle.
Law enforcement officials later arrested Mason Ray Rodriguez on a murder charge. During the investigation, authorities recovered the weapon used in the shooting, described as a 9 mm firearm with a high-capacity magazine, which Rodriguez had allegedly attempted to dispose of. A judge set Rodriguez's bond at $250,000. The sheriff's office has indicated that more arrests could be made in connection with the case. It has not been made public whether the woman at the center of the dispute was present at the time of the shooting.
