In the early hours of May 2, 2022, the life of 40-year-old Alma Daniela Gomez was tragically cut short in what authorities have described as a targeted home invasion in Tucson, Arizona. A Hispanic female, Gomez was fatally shot inside her residence on West Kentucky Street at approximately 2 a.m. When Tucson police officers arrived at the scene, they found her deceased.
Investigators quickly determined that the incident was not a random act of violence, believing that Gomez was acquainted
with the individuals who forcibly entered her home with the intent to commit robbery. The subsequent investigation led to the identification of three suspects: 18-year-old Rene Alejandro Uranga, 18-year-old Luis Isaiah Navarro, and 19-year-old Anyssa Delfina Rios-Sanchez.
On June 15, 2022, both Uranga and Navarro were taken into custody and subsequently charged with armed robbery, kidnapping, and felony murder. They were booked into the Pima County Jail, each with a bond set at $1 million. Shortly after their arrest, Rios-Sanchez turned herself in to the authorities and faced the same charges, with her bond set at $500,000. The investigation into Gomez's death also revealed its connection to a broader series of home invasion killings in the Tucson area. Uranga and Navarro were also implicated in the fatal shooting of 18-year-old Edwin Jonatan Gutierrez, which occurred on May 20, 2022.
