On August 22, 2022, Elmer Tarazon, a 38-year-old man from Tucson, Arizona, was fatally shot at Joaquin Murrieta Park, located at 1400 N. Silverbell Road. The incident occurred just after 6:20 p.m. when Tucson Police Department (TPD) officers responded to a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, they found Tarazon with bullet wounds on the west side of the park. Despite administering CPR and providing emergency care, Tarazon was pronounced dead at Banner-University Medical Center.
