Murdered

On October 5, 2022, Thomas Meixner, a 52-year-old professor and head of the Department of Hydrology and Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Arizona, was fatally shot on the Tucson campus. The assailant, Murad Dervish, a former graduate student who had been expelled earlier that year, approached Meixner near his office and shot him multiple times.
