In the spring of 2022, the life of 19-year-old Marcell Treyvonne Reddick, a Black male from Tucson, Arizona, was brought to a tragic and abrupt end. On Friday, April 15, 2022, Reddick was involved in an attempted robbery that ultimately led to his own death by gun violence. During the commission of the crime, another individual was also shot but sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Following the incident, law enforcement officials began an investigation that led them to identify
three other individuals believed to be involved in the robbery alongside Reddick. The suspects fled the scene before police arrived, prompting a search for their whereabouts. The investigation culminated in the apprehension of all three men connected to the fatal event.
The first to be taken into custody was 28-year-old Daruis Lamonte Barrett. Subsequently, with the assistance of a SWAT team, 19-year-old King David Rugamba was arrested at his residence. The third suspect, 19-year-old Malik Tyreme Ford, ultimately turned himself in to the authorities. All three were booked into the Pima County Jail, facing serious charges of first-degree murder, attempted armed robbery, and attempted aggravated robbery for their roles in the incident that claimed the life of Marcell Treyvonne Reddick.
