In the late afternoon of June 16, 2023, a violent encounter in a Tucson, Arizona, parking lot tragically ended the life of 30-year-old Jacob Dean Stark. A white/caucasian male, Stark was in the vicinity of South Park Avenue with a friend when the fatal incident unfolded. The Tucson Police Department responded to reports of gunfire around 4:15 p.m. and discovered Stark in an alleyway adjacent to a business, suffering from gunshot wounds.

Despite the immediate medical assistance provided at the scene, his injuries proved too severe. Stark was quickly transported to a local hospital, but he was pronounced dead upon arrival. Investigators began to piece together the events of that afternoon, determining that an assailant had approached Stark in the parking lot and opened fire before promptly fleeing the scene. The motive for the attack was not immediately clear as authorities worked to develop a description of the shooter.

Months of dedicated investigation led by Tucson Police Department detectives, in collaboration with the Arizona Department of Public Safety, eventually pointed to a suspect. Law enforcement identified 31-year-old Ramon Antonio Salcido as the individual allegedly responsible for Stark's death. In a significant development, Salcido was already incarcerated at the Pima County Jail on an unrelated charge. On October 6, detectives formally charged Salcido with first-degree murder in connection with the shooting. He is being held on a $1,010,000 bond, and authorities have indicated that they are not searching for any other suspects.
