A 21-year-old Black/African American woman, Abriana Paxton, was killed in a shooting in Phoenix, Arizona on July 5, 2023. Another man was critically injured in the same incident.
The shooting occurred in the early morning hours near 67th Avenue and McDowell Road. When Phoenix police officers arrived at the scene, they found Paxton and a man with gunshot wounds. Both were transported to a hospital, where Paxton was pronounced dead. The man was reported to be in extremely critical condition
