On August 2, 2019, Gwen Dancil, a 41-year-old White/Caucasian female from Phoenix, Arizona, was shot and killed near an apartment complex by the intersection of 27th Avenue and Roosevelt Street on the city’s west side. In the early morning hours, around 1:30–1:45 a.m., multiple gunshots were heard in the area, shattering the quiet of the residential complex and prompting several 911 calls.
