On the morning of January 14, 2025, police were called to a residence near 18000 North 3rd Avenue in Phoenix, Arizona, for a welfare check. Upon entering the home, officers discovered the body of 65-year-old Jana Kristine Brose, a White/Caucasian female. She was found to have died from an apparent gunshot wound. The incident, which occurred at approximately 7:30 a.m., sent a shockwave through the quiet north Phoenix neighborhood.
Further investigation inside the residence revealed a
second body, that of 69-year-old Gus Brose, Jana's husband. Authorities reported that Gus Brose appeared to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Evidence found at the scene led detectives to believe that the tragic event was a murder-suicide.
The Phoenix Police Department identified Gus Brose as the suspect in the shooting death of his wife. As the suspect was also deceased, no arrests were made in connection with the case.
