In December of 2005, Tina Marie Washington, a 39-year-old female preschool teacher, was making her way home after a Christmas party. As she waited at a bus stop, her life was tragically cut short. Her body was later discovered in an alley on December 12, 2005, the victim of a fatal gunshot wound to the head. A witness reported seeing a man with a gun drawn, standing over her body behind a fast-food restaurant.
The investigation into her death eventually led police to a former
construction worker named Mark Goudeau. During a search of Goudeau's residence, authorities found a significant piece of evidence: a ring that belonged to Tina. The ring was inscribed with the phrase 'we love mom' and featured three birthstones, a poignant symbol of the family she left behind. This discovery, along with other evidence, linked Goudeau to her murder.
Mark Goudeau was identified as the 'Baseline Killer,' a serial killer responsible for a string of violent crimes, including multiple murders, sexual assaults, and robberies that had instilled fear in the Phoenix area. He was ultimately arrested, tried, and convicted for his crime spree. For the murder of Tina Washington and eight other victims, Goudeau was sentenced to death.
