In the summer of 1999, a quiet Phoenix, Arizona apartment became the scene of a tragic and brutal crime that claimed the life of Cindy Richards. On the morning of July 15th, she was discovered murdered alongside her boyfriend, Roscoe Merchant, and his sister, AnnMarie Merchant. The three victims were found inside their shared residence, having been fatally attacked in the early hours.
The investigation into the triple homicide quickly focused on Eugene Robert Tucker, AnnMarie's ex-boyfriend.
Authorities determined that Tucker, after being spurned by AnnMarie the previous day, had forcibly entered the apartment with violent intent. Inside, he found Cindy Richards and Roscoe Merchant asleep and shot them both. He then turned his attention to AnnMarie, subjecting her to a vicious assault before ultimately taking her life as well. Eugene Robert Tucker was apprehended and subsequently charged with three counts of first-degree murder, in addition to charges of sexual assault, kidnapping, and burglary. His trial brought to light the chilling details of the planned attack and the brutality of his actions. In 2000, a jury found him guilty on all counts.
