In the late afternoon of a summer day in Glendale, Arizona, the life of 53-year-old Byron Lamar McBrine was tragically cut short. On Wednesday, August 2, 2023, McBrine was at Bonsall Park South when he was fatally shot. The incident unfolded just after 4 p.m. in the area of the 5800 block of West Bethany Home Road.
Glendale police officers, who were in the vicinity, noticed several people running from the park.
These individuals directed the officers to McBrine, who was on the ground with gunshot wounds. Despite the officers' attempts at life-saving measures, Byron McBrine was pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses at the park reported that the man who shot McBrine fled the scene in a blue four-door sedan. Investigators with the Glendale Police Department utilized their Real Time Crime Center to identify a blue Volkswagen leaving the area at the time of the shooting. Their research connected the vehicle to 44-year-old Eron Corrales.
Detectives located Corrales and initially arrested him on unrelated drug charges. However, upon his arrest, investigators found more evidence linking him to the shooting. Eron Corrales was subsequently charged with multiple felonies, including first-degree murder, misconduct involving weapons, and possession of drugs for sale in connection with the death of Byron McBrine.
