In the autumn of 2023, a welfare check at a Tucson, Arizona, apartment complex on Ajo Way led to a grim discovery. On October 11th, police officers entered an unoccupied apartment to find the bodies of 37-year-old Courtney-Ann Kanani Pregil and 32-year-old Tylor James Wheeler. Both had suffered fatal gunshot wounds. Investigators learned that neither Pregil, a female, nor Wheeler were residents of the apartment where they were found, adding another layer of mystery to the double homicide.
