Patrick Grant, a 36-year-old man from Memphis, Tennessee, tragically died on May 21, 2014. He was one of the many victims of the rising gun violence that plagued Memphis during that year. His death contributed to the sharp increase in the city's homicide rate, with 168 homicides recorded in 2014—18 more than the previous year.
