On August 16, 2016, Elmore Howard, age 35, was fatally shot in the Orange Mound neighborhood of Memphis, Tennessee. He was attacked on Marianna Street, where he was robbed and shot multiple times. Despite receiving immediate medical attention, Howard succumbed to his injuries about a week later at Regional One Hospital. Initially, the investigation stalled due to a lack of substantial evidence or witnesses willing to come forward, leading the case to go cold for several years.
