In the spring of 2016, the life of Fred Montgomery, a 33-year-old African American man from Memphis, Tennessee, was tragically cut short. On the evening of May 13, Montgomery was fatally shot in South Memphis in what authorities would classify as a homicide. Remembered by loved ones as an outgoing and protective individual, he was known for his playful nature and deep devotion to his two sons.
