In the early morning hours of a Tuesday in November 2017, a car crash on E. Crump near Lauderdale in Memphis, Tennessee, led to a grim discovery. Inside the vehicle, authorities found Laronzo Davis, a 28-year-old male, suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite the efforts of emergency responders, he was pronounced dead at the scene. His family later shared that he had just left his home to go to the store and never returned, leaving behind a 4-year-old daughter.

Humphrey, was found lying in the middle of the street near the crash site, also having been shot. Humphrey was unresponsive and was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. While investigating the scene, police reportedly discovered a significant quantity of marijuana and a scale inside a jacket that belonged to Humphrey.
Following his treatment for his injuries, Humphrey was arrested and faced charges of possession of a controlled substance with intent to manufacture, deliver, or sell, as well as possession of drug paraphernalia. He was later released on his own recognizance. There have been no public announcements regarding any suspects or arrests in connection with the shooting death of Laronzo Davis.
