Seth J. Hansen, born on September 1, 1976, in Omaha, Nebraska, was the son of Douglas and Susan Hansen. He had a sister, Eve Shanklin, and was the father of a daughter named Cassady Hansen.

On January 7, 2017, at approximately 12:30 a.m., Hansen was working at the Speedee Mart near 138th Street and West Maple Road in Omaha.
