Tammy Lea Leslie, born on July 4, 1972, in Atlantic, Iowa, was the daughter of Dennis and Judy (Helms) Bahr. She grew up in Stella, Nebraska, attending Southeast Nebraska Consolidated Schools and graduating in 1990. After high school, Tammy moved to Beatrice, Nebraska, where she pursued further education at Southeast Community College.
