Pamela Ann Nickisch, a 71-year-old Caucasian female, passed away suddenly, leaving her family and friends in shock and sorrow. Born on January 31, 1948, in Omaha, she had moved to Valentine with her husband, Paul Daniel Nickisch, Jr., after retiring from their life in Ralston, Nebraska.
Pamela was remembered as a woman with a selfless personality, always putting others before herself. She was an active and long-standing member of the Ralston Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, where her dedication was pivotal to the success of the volunteer fire department. Known affectionately as ï Grammyï and ï Nanaï to her nine grandchildren, she was a loving and doting grandmother who never missed a birthday wish. Her warm smile and constant positive outlook were cherished by all who knew her.
The circumstances of her death, however, painted a grim picture. On the evening of March 4, 2019, at approximately 7:00 p.m., the Valentine Police Department responded to a shooting at a residence located at 301 Edna Street. Upon their arrival, officers discovered Pamela Nickisch deceased inside the home.
Investigators from the Nebraska State Patrol were called to the scene and determined that Pamela had been shot and killed during an escalation of a domestic violence situation. The investigation led to the arrest of her husband, 70-year-old Paul Nickisch, in connection with her murder. Tragically, the couple's juvenile grandson was present in the house at the time of the fatal shooting. Paul Nickisch was subsequently booked into the Cherry County Jail on a murder charge, with the final determination of charges to be made by the county attorney.
