On August 6, 2009, Wilmington, Delaware, experienced its second homicide of the week when 28-year-old Stephon Phillips was found fatally shot in the city's Hedgeville neighborhood. Police responded to the 600 block of South Connell Street around 12:30 a.m., discovering Phillips with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
