On August 8, 2015, 40-year-old John G. Harmon was fatally shot during a home invasion at his residence on North Walnut Street in Milford, Delaware. Three intruders, armed with handguns and accompanied by a pit bull, forcibly entered Harmon's home, where nine individuals were present. The assailants ordered the occupants to lie on the floor in the living room while one intruder confined Harmon to his bedroom, duct-taping him to his wheelchair before shooting him in the head.
