On March 30, 2016, the body of a 24-year-old Black male, Dontray Hendricks of Dover, Delaware, was discovered on the Port Mahon fishing pier. Authorities were called to the scene around 12:39 p.m. regarding an unresponsive person and, upon arrival, found Hendricks, who was pronounced dead by paramedics. An autopsy later confirmed that he had died from a gunshot wound, and his death was ruled a homicide.
The investigation into Hendricks' death revealed a planned robbery that turned fatal.
