On September 2, 2017, at approximately 1:17 p.m., Wilmington police responded to a ShotSpotter alert indicating gunfire in the 800 block of North Adams Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered 20-year-old Kai'Mel Shyhee Devine Ennals suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper torso. He received immediate medical attention at the scene from New Castle County paramedics and was subsequently transported to Christiana Hospital in Newark, Delaware, where he was pronounced dead.
