In the early afternoon of a Thursday in Wilmington, Delaware, tragedy struck the community. On August 12, 2021, Nyden Holmes, an 18-year-old Black male, was in the area of 4th and Harrison Streets when the sound of gunshots shattered the day's calm. When police arrived at the scene around 1:20 p.m., they found the young man suffering from gunshot wounds.
