Stephen Javon Ashley, a 29-year-old Black male from Wilmington, Delaware, died on October 29, 2008, after being shot. He succumbed to his injuries at Christiana Hospital the following day, October 30, 2008. Ashley's death occurred during a period of heightened gun violence in Wilmington, which saw a record number of shooting victims in 2008.
