On August 28, 2023, Wilmington Police were called to the area of 24th and Pine Streets, where they discovered 26-year-old male victim Zaahir Thorton suffering from gunshot wounds. The young Black man was transported to a nearby hospital, but despite efforts to save him, he succumbed to his injuries. His death marked yet another tragic instance of gun violence in Wilmington, Delaware, leaving family and community members grieving the loss of the 26-year-old male victim whose life ended abruptly.
