On a Sunday evening in March of 1999, the life of 18-year-old Eddie Santana was tragically cut short in Lewiston, Maine. The young man was fatally shot on March 28th in an incident that authorities later described as being related to drugs. This act of violence marked one of the 25 homicides that occurred in Maine that year, a statistic compiled by the Maine Department of Public Safety to better understand crime trends within the state.
