On February 8, 2011, 53-year-old Robert A. "Bobby" Orr was fatally shot in his Readfield, Maine, home. Orr, originally from Abington, Massachusetts, had moved to Carver at 13 and was the son of the late Carver Chief of Police, Thomas S. Orr, and Emma (Palmer) Orr. He was a long-standing member of the Massachusetts Laborers Union, Local 721, and a member of the American Legion, Post 40, in Winthrop, Maine. At the time of his death, Orr resided with his wife, Janet M. (MacLellan) Orr.
