On November 9, 1998, in Danforth, Maine, 43-year-old Bobby Brown was fatally shot. The perpetrator, 42-year-old Randy McGowan, was subsequently charged with murder. The incident stemmed from a confrontation at McGowan's residence, where Brown, accompanied by his girlfriend Jamie Merrill, arrived to retrieve her personal belongings. McGowan claimed he acted in self-defense, alleging that Brown lunged at him, prompting him to fire a 9mm handgun.
