On July 26, 2014, in Saco, Maine, 7-year-old Noah Nathaniel Smith was tragically killed in a domestic violence incident that claimed the lives of his entire immediate family. His father, 33-year-old Joel Smith, fatally shot Noah; his mother, Heather Smith, 35; his siblings, Jason Montez, 12, and Lily Smith, 4; before taking his own life. The incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. in the family's apartment on Water Street.
