An escaped inmate is later found murdered On April 17, 1972, the body of Richard Joseph Albert, a 33-year-old escaped inmate, was found near mile marker 34.5 on the Maine Turnpike in Saco, Maine. Albert had been on the run since November 25, 1971, when he and another inmate escaped from the New Hampshire State Prison. His body was discovered in a wooded area near the highway, but the exact cause of his death has never been disclosed.
