In the late summer of 2021, the life of Douglas P. Michaud Jr., a 31-year-old White male, came to a tragic and abrupt end on the front porch of his Biddeford, Maine, apartment building. A landlord and property manager, Michaud was fatally shot on September 14, 2021, at his residence on Union Street. The incident, which shattered the quiet of the residential neighborhood, stemmed from a landlord-tenant dispute that had been simmering for some time.
