On September 14, 2021, 31-year-old Douglas P. Michaud Jr., a landlord and property manager in Biddeford, Maine, was fatally shot on the front porch of his Union Street apartment building. The assailant was identified as his tenant, 30-year-old Randal J. Hennessey, who resided in a second-floor unit of the same building. The incident occurred in the presence of Michaud's pregnant girlfriend, Jamie Wakefield.
