On November 25, 2018, 49-year-old Daren R. Charette was found deceased in his basement apartment at 485 West Main Street in Fort Kent, Maine. Responding to a 911 call around 12:30 p.m., Fort Kent Police discovered Charette's body and contacted the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit. An autopsy by the state medical examiner determined that Charette died from a single gunshot wound.
