On October 31, 2020, 18-year-old Hassan Hassan was fatally shot on River Street in Lewiston, Maine. He was transported to Central Maine Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries in the early hours of November 1.

Following an investigation, 20-year-old Abdikadir A. Nur of Auburn was arrested on November 2, 2020, and charged with Hassan's murder. At the time of his arrest, Nur was out on bail for a prior elevated aggravated assault charge from July 2020.
