On October 25, 2023, Joshua A. Seal, a 36-year-old resident of Lisbon Falls, Maine, was among the 18 victims of a mass shooting in Lewiston. The tragedy occurred at Schemengees Bar & Grille, where a cornhole tournament for the deaf community was taking place. Joshua, a beloved figure in Maine's deaf community, was participating in the event when the shooting unfolded.
