On November 27, 2023, authorities discovered the bodies of 50-year-old Amy Nickerson and her ex-boyfriend, Lance Lucas, both deceased from gunshot wounds, in a home on Borough Road in Searsmont, Maine. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined that Nickerson's death was a homicide, while Lucas's was a suicide. Investigations revealed that the two had recently ended their relationship, and Lucas fatally shot Nickerson before taking his own life.
