In the quiet expanse of Gallatin Gateway, Montana, the life of Dr. Jason Jones, a 53-year-old White / Caucasian male, was brought to a tragic and unexpected end on the evening of October 18, 2022. A respected primary care physician known for his compassionate care, Dr. Jones was fatally shot multiple times in an event that would be ruled a murder-suicide. The incident unfolded approximately 10 miles south of Gallatin Gateway in the Gallatin Canyon.
On that Tuesday evening, at roughly 6:45 PM, the Gallatin County Sheriff's Office received reports of gunshots. A witness at the scene reported seeing a female shoot a male before fleeing. When first responders arrived, they discovered Dr. Jason Jones deceased from multiple gunshot wounds.

The search for Kimberli Jones concluded when she was found deceased near Hyalite Reservoir. Her death was the result of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
