On the evening of April 29, 2023, in Billings, Montana, 20-year-old Hispanic/Latino male Kian Manuel Banderas was fatally shot at a carnival held in the parking lot of a car dealership. The event was closing down around 10:30 p.m. when a confrontation between rival gangs escalated into gunfire. Banderas was attempting to leave the area in a Honda Accord when he was struck in the neck by a bullet and died at the scene.
