In the quiet, rural landscape of Bainville, Montana, the life of Scot Panasuk, a 63-year-old White male, was brought to an abrupt and violent end on November 6, 2021. A well-known and respected figure in the community, Panasuk was known for his hearty laugh and his willingness to always lend a hand. He was a passionate farmer and a pillar of the Bainville community, having served on the school board, the volunteer fire department, and his church board for many years. His death was not the result of a random act of violence, but the tragic culmination of a domestic dispute that unfolded in the parking lot of the Colby Casino.
On that Saturday evening, what began as a brief argument escalated into a fatal encounter. Scot Panasuk was with Jennifer Mann, a 49-year-old from Williston, North Dakota, when they were confronted by her husband, 56-year-old Bradford Mann. The confrontation quickly turned deadly as Bradford Mann shot and killed Panasuk.
Immediately following, he turned the weapon on his wife, Jennifer, who was still inside Panasuk's vehicle, and fatally shot her. The violence concluded when Bradford Mann then took his own life.
The Roosevelt County Sheriff's Office was notified of the shooting at 5:20 p.m. When law enforcement arrived at the scene, all three individuals were deceased. The investigation that followed confirmed the incident as a double-murder and suicide, with Bradford Mann identified as the sole suspect. Because the perpetrator of the homicides was also deceased, no arrests were made in connection with the deaths of Scot Panasuk and Jennifer Mann.
