In May 2005, a horrifying sequence of events began to unfold at a home in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, culminating in the tragic death of 9-year-old Dylan James Groene, a Caucasian male. Joseph Edward Duncan III, a convicted sex offender on the run from a child molestation charge in Minnesota, targeted the Groene family home after spotting Dylan and his younger sister, 8-year-old Shasta, playing outside.
