In the early morning hours of September 5, 2021, the life of 28-year-old Lamont Brandon Rogers, a male resident of Boise, Idaho, was tragically cut short. In downtown Boise, near the intersection of 6th and Grove streets, the sound of multiple gunshots pierced the air. Police officers in the vicinity heard the shots and, upon approaching the area, discovered Rogers with multiple gunshot wounds. Another man was seen dragging him out of the street.
Despite the life-saving efforts of the officers and paramedics who arrived at the scene, Lamont Rogers succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The Ada County Coroner's Office later confirmed that his death was a homicide caused by multiple gunshot wounds.
The shooter fled the scene immediately after the incident, prompting a search of the area by law enforcement. After interviewing several witnesses who were part of a large crowd present during the shooting, police identified 20-year-old Timmothy Morgan of Meridian as the suspect. He was arrested later that same day and charged with second-degree murder and the use of a deadly weapon in the commission of a felony. A judge set his bond at $2 million.
Following a six-day trial, a jury found Timmothy Morgan guilty of the second-degree murder of Lamont "Bam" Rogers in February 2023. It was revealed that Rogers had been shot at least eight times. In May 2023, a judge sentenced Morgan to life in prison, with the possibility of parole after 25 years. At the time of this sentencing, Morgan was also facing several other unrelated felony charges, including rape and intimidating a witness.
