On a spring evening in Boise, Idaho, what began as a birthday celebration ended in a tragic loss of life. Elliott Bailey, a 28-year-old Black man, was killed on May 8, 2014, in a targeted shooting that also claimed the life of his friend, 27-year-old Travontae Calloway. The two men were at an apartment on Orchard Street, celebrating Calloway's birthday, when violence erupted. A third person, Calloway's girlfriend, was also shot but survived her injuries.
