A Christmas Day gathering in a West Boise home turned tragic, ending in the shooting death of 38-year-old David Pistole. On December 25, 2023, Boise police were called to a residence on the 8000 block of West Pomona Court following reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, they discovered Pistole with gunshot injuries.
Emergency services transported Pistole to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center.
Despite the efforts of the medical staff to save him, he succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds and died just before 9 p.m. The Ada County Coroner's Office later ruled his death a homicide.
Investigators have indicated that a "domestic dispute" involving several individuals occurred at the home prior to the fatal shooting. However, the specific details of the dispute and the identity of the person who shot Pistole have not been publicly released. As of late December 2023, no arrests had been made in connection with the homicide, and the Boise Police Department's investigation remains active.
