Who killed Yazzie? In the winter of 2007, the life of Yazzie Billie Plentywounds, a 26-year-old Indigenous / Native American man, was tragically cut short in Boise, Idaho. On the evening of February 15th, residents near the Red Rock Christian Church on the Boise Bench reported hearing the sound of gunshots echoing through the ballfields behind the church. Police responded to the calls, but a search of the area that night yielded nothing out of the ordinary.
The following day, a grim discovery was made in
that same field. The body of Yazzie Plentywounds was found, and it was determined that he had been shot six times. Although he was a resident of Caldwell, his life came to a violent end in Boise. The investigation into his death would become one of the Treasure Valley's lingering unsolved homicides.
