On the evening of February 29, 2024, at approximately 8:43 p.m., Gastonia Police responded to a reported shooting at a residence on South Weldon Street in Gastonia, North Carolina. Upon arrival, officers discovered 53-year-old Gerald Lee Humphries Sr. deceased from a gunshot wound.

Investigations revealed that Humphries had been involved in a domestic dispute with his daughter's boyfriend, 30-year-old Darnell Shanquavius Fowler. Both men were armed during the altercation, which escalat ...
