In the early evening of July 3, 2024, a burst of violence shattered the quiet of the Fawnbrook Apartments in Twin Falls, Idaho, leaving 35-year-old Hispanic male Miguel Lawrence Garza with fatal injuries. Police responded to reports of gunshots at the apartment complex located at 645 Fawnbrook Avenue around 7:22 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered Garza suffering from gunshot wounds. He was rushed to St.
Luke's Magic Valley Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries the following morning.
The Twin Falls Police Department immediately launched a homicide investigation. Their initial efforts focused on locating two vehicles of interest, a white Dodge pickup and a Ford Explorer SUV, believed to be connected to the shooting. A few days later, authorities released a video of two individuals, a man and a woman, seen running from the area around the time of the incident.
The investigation led to the arrest of three suspects in connection with Garza's death. Dustin Aaron Molina, 29, faced a string of serious charges including murder, aggravated assault, destruction of evidence, burglary, grand theft, and auto theft. Roberto Miranda Villa, 26, was charged with conspiracy, while 22-year-old Karina Lara Martinez was charged with auto theft. With the suspects in custody, police confirmed that all persons of interest and the vehicles they were searching for had been located.
In a later development, Dustin Molina pleaded guilty to an amended charge of voluntary manslaughter for the shooting of Miguel Garza. He faces a potential sentence of up to 15 years in prison and a $15,000 fine. Miguel Garza was remembered as a laborer for a local construction company and a father. His family described him as an amazing person with a heart full of love who, despite life's challenges, never gave up on the man he wanted to be.
